Living Our Beliefs

Repositioning an interfaith podcast for clarity and audience alignment.

INDUSTRY

Interfaith Education

Dec 2024 - Jan 2025

Challenge

Living Our Beliefs is a podcast within the Talking with God Project exploring conversations across Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. While the show had an established audience, its existing artwork didn't clearly communicate its interfaith focus.

The challenge was to create a clearer, more distinctive cover that made the podcast's purpose immediately understandable while retaining recognition for existing listeners.

Discovery

I reviewed the existing artwork, audience, and podcast landscape to identify the show's strongest point of differentiation: its focus on dialogue across multiple faith traditions rather than a single religious perspective.

This shaped the core communication challenge: making the podcast's interfaith focus clear at a glance, particularly within the crowded environment of podcast platforms.

Strategy

The approach centred on clarity, simplification, and hierarchy. The podcast title was prioritised for stronger visibility, while secondary elements were reduced to keep the focus on the core message.

Symbols associated with Judaism, Christianity, and Islam were introduced as visual shorthand for interfaith dialogue, making the podcast's purpose more immediate and recognisable.

Podcast Identity

I developed a visual identity around the concept of interfaith dialogue, pairing the serif typeface Addington with a contemporary supporting typeface, a balanced colour palette, and symbolic elements representing the three faith traditions.

The system was designed to communicate openness, inclusion, and respectful exchange, while creating a clear and recognisable presence across podcast artwork and supporting communications.

Outcome

The final identity gave Living Our Beliefs a clearer and more distinctive visual presence, with a system that could be applied consistently across the podcast and its communications.

The selected direction became the published podcast artwork, creating a stronger introduction to the show and bringing its defining characteristic to the forefront: conversation across faith traditions.

“Francisca listened carefully to my needs and brought several strong creative directions to the table. She communicated her thinking clearly throughout the process, and the final design exceeded my expectations. I’m really happy with the result.”
