Creating a striking podcast artwork, and animation for a critique based show with a daring personality.

INDUSTRY

Podcast Marketing

DURATION

2024 - 2025

Challenge

Roast My Podcast helps creators improve their shows through constructive feedback and strategic analysis. The challenge was to translate its existing brand personality into a visual identity that embraced the energy of a “roast” without compromising credibility.

The identity needed to balance humour and expertise, feeling bold and entertaining while reflecting the show's role as a source of practical, strategic advice.

Discovery

I studied the existing brand positioning, audience, and personality to identify the visual territory that best represented the show. At its core, Roast My Podcast combines rigorous analysis with playful delivery, using humour as a way to make honest, useful feedback more engaging.

This tension became the foundation for the visual direction, helping distinguish the show from more polished and conventional business podcasts without pushing it into purely comedic territory.

Strategy

Rather than positioning the show as a podcast about criticism, the strategy focused on constructive improvement. The identity was designed to communicate honest feedback delivered with expertise, empathy, and a sense of humour.

Exploration centred around concepts associated with roasting, attention, and audience engagement, while ensuring the visual language remained approachable and recognisable across podcast platforms.

Podcast Identity

I translated the existing brand personality into a visual language built around expressive typography, bold contrast, and intentionally imperfect details. A custom typographic arrangement became the centrepiece, supported by a flame motif that reinforces the roasting concept.

The system was designed to work across podcast artwork and promotional applications, with strong visual recognition at small sizes. Textured elements and playful compositions give the identity an energetic, conversational character while maintaining clarity and credibility.

Motion

I extended the visual identity into a short animated treatment, using movement, texture, and the flame motif to bring the brand to life. The animation builds from a field of textured particles into the Roast My Podcast wordmark, creating a dynamic introduction that reinforces the show's bold, playful character.

The result adds motion and personality to the identity while creating a flexible asset for podcast promotion and digital content.

Outcome

The project transformed a simple podcast concept into a distinctive visual identity system capable of supporting future episodes, promotional content, and audience growth.

The resulting identity captures what makes Roast My Podcast unique: insightful strategy delivered through honest, engaging, and constructive critique.
