Killer Concept

Positioning a marketing podcast as a counter-cultural icon, with a bold, underground edge.

DURATION

Challenge

Killer Concept explores why some ideas spread while others disappear, helping creators develop stronger concepts before thinking about marketing. The challenge was to create a visual identity for an inherently abstract subject without falling into the familiar aesthetics of business and marketing content.

The identity needed to feel distinctive and memorable while reflecting the show's focus on ideas, originality, and creative thinking.

Discovery

Discovery revealed that the podcast wasn't trying to compete with traditional business shows. Its appeal came from challenging conventional thinking, exploring unconventional ideas, and helping listeners see opportunities they may have previously overlooked.

References to punk zines, skateboard culture, and independent publishing appeared more frequently than business or technology-inspired metaphors, revealing a strong affinity for creative communities that value originality, experimentation, and alternative perspectives.

Strategy

Rather than positioning Killer Concept as a polished educational resource, the strategy was to create something that felt more like an alternative creative publication.

Drawing inspiration from DIY culture, underground publishing, and hand-crafted design, the visual language was designed to balance creative energy with clarity. The goal was to create an identity that felt intellectually curious, creatively independent, and instantly recognisable.

Podcast Identity

The final identity combines bold typography, elementary geometric forms, and high-contrast compositions to create a visual language that feels distinctive, creative, and built to stand apart.

A responsive logo suite was developed for podcast platforms, social media, and promotional assets, while a modular episode framework ensures consistency across future content. The resulting system provides enough flexibility for each episode to feel unique while maintaining a strong connection to the wider identity.

Outcome

The final identity established a distinctive presence across podcast platforms and promotional channels, providing a flexible foundation capable of supporting the show's ongoing growth while maintaining a consistent and recognisable visual presence.

Killer Concept is a podcast exploring why some ideas spread while others disappear. Through conversations and concept breakdowns, host Jeremy Enns helps creators develop stronger concepts before they think about marketing them.

The challenge was to create a visual identity for an inherently abstract subject. Unlike categories with established visual conventions, concept development exists in the world of ideas, patterns, and perception.
